Architecture is a practice, an ongoing endeavor to study the relationship between imagination and practicality. The projects below are a collection of personal and academic works. Some are surrealist architectural concepts and others have been developed through to construction. I have led the design and construction of two pedestrian bridge projects in Bolivia and Eswatini where I volunteered as a field engineer.

Coral Cabana
Coral Cabana is an architectural concept investigating verticality and facade design strategies. For this concept, I designed a parametric growth algorithm to produce a facade that mirrors the shapes found in coral. Another facade design explores the use of hinged elements to control the transparency and texture of the building envelope. The floors alternate between indoor and outdoor space creating semi protected spaces and elevating interior levels to improve views.

Terra Viva
Terra Viva is an expandable greenhouse with a bio-inspired facade. The facades elements diffuse sunlight protecting plants from harsh light while ensuring adequate sun exposure. A depression in the roof is used to collect rain water to support the plants inside. The building rests on a track system allowing the building to split in two to allow for natural ventilation, lighting, views, and a variety of programs and events.

Flow Haus
RAV House
The RAV House is a home optimized to address the challenges of alpine living. Affordability is pushing service workers and native residence out of mountain towns. This design is capable of functioning as two independent living units or one comfortable single family home. The bottom unit is a fully out filled Auxiliary dwelling unit or can be used as a comfortable master bedroom. The main living space is elevated providing views, reliable solar energy generation, and passive solar heating.

wave
The Wave was designed to cultivate relationships between architectural engineering and design students and faculty on the University of Colorado campus. The concept uses an open, split level plan to encourage chance encounters and combines sustainable building design principles with novel design to minimize environmental impact while maximizing occupant experience.

Precedent work
Precedent research is a key driver of my design process. I curate design precedents on the basis of innovation, novelty, and concept. I look for examples of human centered design and ecologically mindful development. Here is a collection of my precedent research boards.
Other Work
Butterfly pavilion
In this design the lofted curvature of two butterfly inspired forms greet each other in mid air. The space within and between these forms celebrates the surrounding landscape as mountain vistas are framed by swooping concrete slabs. A diagrid structural design opens the interior to the sky and supports linear lighting elements that contrast and compliment the curving form.

THE VINEYARD
In this project, a provocative approach to land form manipulation carves architecture into the environment rather than hovering above it. This unique strategy frames space that is ideal for performances while limiting the acoustic and visual impact to the surroundings. The building area that recedes into the earth efficiently maintains thermal stability and reduces UV exposure which is ideal for the preservation of sensitive products such as wine. This unique viticulture education center and performance space fuses art, science, and the landscape just as wine making celebrates the three.
