Service and photography are interwoven pursuits for me. I have had the chance to work as a volunteer field engineer in Sub-Saharan Africa and South America and have a passion for documenting the beauty of landscapes, the joy of forming relationships, and the grit of pursuing hard projects.
SERVICE WORK
I have worked as a field engineer in Eswatini, Africa in 2019 and Bolivia, South America in 2018 on pedestrian bridge infrastructure projects. These bridges alleviate poverty caused by rural isolation and can dramatically increase health, economic vitality, and opportunity for isolated peoples. These bridge projects are an experiential learning opportunity for students and teach young engineers the engineering design process, cross cultural communication, and leadership. I directed the Engineers in Action Chapter at the University of Colorado for two years as an undergraduate and have served as the graduate student adviser for the program.
